Award-Winning Judicial Mentoring Project

The award-winning Judicial Mentoring Project (JMP) was established by the Alameda County Bar Association (ACBA) and the East Bay Diversity Bar Coalition (EBDBC) in 2007 to provide attorneys contemplating a career on the bench with a structured method of obtaining guidance from experienced judges about how to reach that goal.

Many judges from the Superior Court of California, County of Alameda, have participated in this important effort. Any ACBA member who is also a member of one of the EBDBC associations and is interested in being a mentee is welcome to apply. To help the ACBA meet its goal of a bench that reflects the diverse population of our community, people of color, women, LGBT people, the disabled, and other candidates from under-served populations are especially encouraged to apply. Please note that the ACBA will preserve the privacy, confidentiality, and security of the information included in all applications submitted.

Members of the EBDBC include: Asian American Bar Association, Bay Area Lawyers for Individual Freedom, Charles Houston Bar Association, East Bay La Raza Bar Association, Iranian American Bar Association, National Native American Bar Association, South Asian Bar Association and Women Lawyers of Alameda County.

You can download a copy of the updated Judicial Mentoring Project handbook, which includes the mentor application and mentee application. For more information, contact thelma@acbanet.org.
