Are You a Landlord and Need Help with a Landlord/Tenant Matter?

Get Help Now.

Landlord/tenant law varies from county to county and it is important to consult with an attorney who is familiar with the laws and procedures in the area that your legal matter is in. If you are a landlord, the Alameda County Bar Association's Lawyer Referral Service (LRS) can refer you to an experienced, prescreened landlord/tenant attorney in the East Bay.

If you are a tenant and need legal help, please contact the East Bay Community Law Center at (510) 548-4040 or the Eviction Defense Center at (510) 452-4541.

LRS attorneys are qualified to help you with many landlord matters, including:

  • Residential & commercial lease issues
  • Habitability problems & code violations
  • Failure to pay rent
  • Illegal discrimination & harassment
  • Security deposit problems
  • Other landlord/tenant matters & disputes

Contact us now to request a lawyer by phone at (510) 302-2222 or submit a request online using our secure form at https://www.acbanet.org/lrs/.

How the Referral Service Works

When you contact us, you will be asked to provide basic information about your legal situation. Our referral counselors are trained to evaluate your situation and find the right lawyer for your needs. Once we have found an attorney with relevant experience who is interested in speaking with you (usually within 2-3 business days), we will contact you and provide you with the attorney’s information. There is a non-refundable $30 fee for the referral, which entitles you to a free telephone or office consultation of up to 30 minutes.

Who We Are

Our Lawyer Referral Service is certified by the State of California (State Cert. #0001) and meets the standards for Lawyer Referral of the American Bar Association.

Our mission is to help people and businesses find the right lawyer for their needs. We accept requests for referrals by phone, fax, regular mail, email, or through the web.

What We Do

Our referral counselors are trained to evaluate your situation and find the right lawyer for your needs. We'll ask for basic information about your legal situation and then search for an attorney with relevant experience to assist you.

Once we have found an attorney with relevant experience who is interested in speaking with you (usually within 2-3 business days), we will contact you and provide you with the attorney's information.

Costs

There is a non-refundable $30 fee for the referral. As a result, an attorney will provide a free telephone or office consultation no longer than thirty minutes for most areas of the law. The fee is waived for personal injury, workers' compensation, sexual harassment, and medical malpractice cases.
