When did you know you wanted to be a lawyer? In high school--I loved debate and public policy issues.
If you hadn't become a lawyer, what would you be doing instead? A rock & roller--awaiting the return of running bass lines and power chords.
What do you know now that you wish you had known when you were first admitted to practice? The years go by fast; keeping contact with clients requires persistent effort.
What is the biggest challenge facing you as a lawyer today? Taking
the time to deliberate and reach a considered judgment when our
technological world expects an instant analysis and response.
What's your favorite part of being a lawyer? Taking a tough issue and defining what is decisive and why.
What is your dream vacation? Orcas Island in Washington State or the Yosemite back country.
What are you reading right now? We Still Hold These Truths by Matthew Spalding.
What's one thing people might be surprised to learn about you? I still have my Teamsters card from trucking and warehousing work before law school.
What person, living or dead, real or fictional, would you like to have dinner with? My wife, of course (almost got me with that one!).
Why do you choose to be a member of the ACBA? What is the greatest benefit you have enjoyed as a member? To
be connected with our professional community; the opportunity to
support programs that improve access to justice in our community at
large.
We'll profile one of our fascinating members every month. If you would like to nominate someone for Member of the Month, please contact us!
